“Fatal Crash at Spar Store Shocks Clonoe Community”

A well-known local resident tragically lost his life when a vehicle collided with a Spar store in Clonoe, outside Coalisland, Co Tyrone. The incident prompted emergency services, including PSNI officers, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and the NI Air Ambulance, to respond swiftly. Regrettably, Jock Rafferty, aged 71, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Community members mourned Mr. Rafferty’s passing, with SDLP Councillor Malachy Quinn expressing shock over the loss. He highlighted Mr. Rafferty’s strong ties to local football clubs and extended his condolences to the grieving family.

Linda Dillon, a Mid Ulster MLA, described the incident as devastating for the close-knit community, emphasizing the profound impact on the affected family. Chief Inspector Simpson, from the Collision Investigation Unit, confirmed the details of the tragic event and urged any witnesses or individuals with relevant digital recordings to assist the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, the NIAS reported that they received an emergency call regarding the incident but did not transport any patients from the scene. The Moor Road area, where the accident occurred, remained closed for investigation, with authorities urging the public to come forward with any pertinent information by contacting the Collision Investigation Unit.
