Three individuals lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries following a mass shooting at Buford’s Bar on West Sixth Street in Austin, Texas, as confirmed by the police. Among the 14 individuals taken to the hospital, three are in critical condition. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis mentioned that officers swiftly responded to the incident near the East 6th Street entertainment area as bars were closing.
According to Chief Davis, the officers quickly moved to West 6th Street where they encountered an armed individual, leading to a confrontation in which three officers fired back, resulting in the suspect’s death. The gunman, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, was reported to have been wearing a sweatshirt with the inscription “Property of Allah” and another shirt featuring an Iranian flag design.
Law enforcement sources indicated that the shooter, identified as Ndiaga Diagne, may have been motivated by recent U.S. actions against Iran, with potential ties to terrorism suggested by materials found in the gunman’s possession. The incident, which unfolded around 2 a.m. outside Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden, involved the shooter firing from his SUV with a pistol.
The FBI highlighted that the assailant’s possessions hinted at a potential connection to terrorism. Reports from law enforcement sources indicated that the New York City resident may have been influenced by the U.S. military’s Operation Epic Fury, an operation jointly conducted with Israel targeting Iran.
