Father Abandons Son in Mexico City Street, Claims Prank

Date:

Dramatic images captured a father abandoning his five-year-old son on a city street before driving away, according to local authorities. The father is now facing an investigation after stating that his actions were merely a prank. However, CCTV footage shows the child being left out of a silver vehicle in the Cuchilla de Padierna area of Mexico City.

The distressing scene unfolded as the vehicle moved away from the child, who attempted to chase after it on foot while pleading for his father not to leave him. Concerned witnesses in the neighborhood, located approximately 15 miles south of the city center, alerted the police upon hearing the boy’s cries around 9:15 pm on Monday.

Upon being approached by law enforcement, the father dismissed the incident as a prank, but both his and the child’s information were collected for a formal inquiry by the Public Ministry. The authorities located the man’s car and found the boy unharmed inside, although the circumstances of their reunion remain unclear.

Authorities in Mexico City are treating the case as a potential instance of child endangerment and psychological abuse. Neighbors have been interviewed as witnesses, with one recounting an alarming scene they witnessed on Easter Monday, expressing anger at seeing the child running helplessly in the street.

Currently, the child, whose identity is protected due to his age, is under the care of child protection services while officials assess whether it is safe for him to remain with his father.
