A tragic incident unfolded in Vacaria, Brazil, where a father and daughter lost their lives in a devastating bee attack. The unfortunate event occurred when Silvana da Fatima Braganca da Luz, 54, veered off a rural dirt track and collided with a beehive, provoking a lethal swarm. Despite efforts from a neighbor who alerted Silvana’s parents and emergency services, her father, Raul Portela da Luz, 79, rushed to the overturned truck to rescue her but was fatally stung in the process. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and passed away the next day. Silvana also succumbed to her injuries, while her mother, aged 72, who was also stung, survived after medical treatment and has since been discharged.
The tragedy took place in Vacaria, a municipality in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Firefighters, delayed by the distance of nearly 40 miles to the scene, were the first responders to arrive. A spokesperson for the fire department mentioned that both victims suffered numerous bee stings. Despite the crash victim being alive when the rescue team reached the site, both fatalities occurred due to the severity of the bee attacks.
Authorities have initiated an investigation, awaiting official confirmation that Raul and Silvana’s deaths were a result of the bee stings.
