Fitbit, a brand known for promoting activity for more than 15 years, has introduced a new product called Fitbit Air. This innovative wearable offers a cost-effective and convenient way to monitor daily fitness levels. Unlike previous Fitbit models, the Fitbit Air does not feature a screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that wrap around the wrist like a stylish accessory.
While the absence of a screen means losing features like message reading, heart rate monitoring, and exercise stats display, it brings significant benefits. The Fitbit Air boasts a more comfortable design akin to a bracelet-style strap rather than a smartwatch. According to a recent study conducted by Google, the Fitbit Air has been rated as more comfortable than its major competitors.
In terms of battery life, the Fitbit Air guarantees a full week of power without requiring removal. Even when the battery depletes, fast charging technology enables one day of power in just five minutes. Additionally, a new magnetic charger with bi-directional technology eliminates the need to worry about the charger’s orientation when recharging.
Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air retains essential Fitbit functionalities. It tracks sleep patterns, activity levels, daily workouts, heart rate, and can detect conditions like AFib, notifying users of irregular heart rhythms. Internal features include an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor.
Since there is no screen, all collected data is directly transmitted to smartphones, where the Google Health Coach compiles a comprehensive health overview for users. The Fitbit Air is fully waterproof up to 50 meters and comes in four color options: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender.
As for pricing, the Fitbit Air will be available for £84.99 when it hits the market.
