An alligator that fatally attacked a woman in front of her partner has been captured after a frantic search by authorities. Brittany Clark, 31, lost both her arms to the 13-foot creature while swimming in a river at Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida on June 29. She was in shoulder-deep water with her boyfriend, Chance Allison, and a roommate when the attack occurred.
Reports revealed the harrowing nature of the incident as Mr. Allison’s 911 call described the brutal injuries inflicted on Ms. Clark. Trappers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) successfully caught two alligators, 12 and 13 feet long, shortly after the tragic event. DNA tests and bite marks confirmed that the larger alligator was responsible for the attack on Ms. Clark.
During the attack, Ms. Clark was dragged underwater by the alligator, prompting Mr. Allison to try desperately to rescue her. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office report detailed how the alligator engaged in a “death roll,” grabbing Ms. Clark’s arm and submerging her underwater. Despite Mr. Allison’s efforts to save her, Ms. Clark suffered severe injuries to both arms.
Following the attack, Mr. Allison managed to bring Ms. Clark to shore and initiated CPR while emergency services were contacted. Despite the swift response, Ms. Clark succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Remembered as a beloved individual by her family, Ms. Clark’s final request to Mr. Allison was to take care of her German Shepherd, Hokie, highlighting the emotional impact of the tragic incident.
