Newly released footage reveals that Renee Good was shot three times by an ICE agent after she attempted to maneuver her car around him, with the agent calling her offensive names. The video, recorded by the ICE agent, provides a detailed perspective of the events leading up to the shooting.
In the footage, Good’s vehicle is shown partially blocking the road as the agent exits his vehicle to walk around her car, capturing her face and license plate. Good remains calm during the interaction, stating that she is not upset with the agent. Another individual, believed to be Good’s partner, approaches the officer while filming the encounter on her phone.
Good is seen telling the officer that they do not change their license plates daily and asserts her status as a US citizen and former Navy veteran. As the officer circles the car, Good reverses to allow other vehicles to pass. The person outside the car then sarcastically suggests that the officers should go get lunch.
As more officers arrive and demand Good to exit the vehicle, she attempts to drive around the officer in front of her. The officer reacts by firing three shots as Good’s car accelerates towards parked vehicles, with the agent hurling derogatory language at her.
The footage contradicts previous claims made by the White House regarding the incident, shedding light on the context of the events. While it confirms that Good obstructed the work of ICE agents by parking across the road, it also shows that she and the other individual were not aggressive.
Importantly, the video demonstrates that Good was not intentionally trying to run over the officer but was trying to steer around him. Shortly after the video’s release, US Vice President JD Vance asserted that the footage supported his view that Good was purposely trying to harm the officer, a statement that sparked controversy.
In a statement, Vance criticized the media for misrepresenting the situation and defended the actions of the law enforcement officer involved in the shooting.
