A tragic incident has claimed the life of a 28-year-old footballer who collapsed during a training session with his twin brother. Maciej Białas, expecting a child with his wife Wiktoria, experienced sudden illness and collapsed, prompting his brother Mateusz to initiate resuscitation efforts. Despite initial signs of hope when his heart was revived after the collapse, Maciej was rushed to the hospital, where doctors removed a clot that had triggered a heart attack. However, prolonged oxygen deprivation to his brain resulted in irreversible brain death.
Maciej, who was in the fourth month of his wife’s pregnancy, tragically passed away before learning the gender of their unborn child, later revealed to be a son. His funeral will take place in Gniezno, east of Poznań, Poland, where he had played for various clubs including Mieszko Gniezno and Kolejarz Czeremcha.
Following the heartbreaking news, Kolejarz Czeremcha paid tribute to Maciej, describing him as a dedicated and inspiring individual both on and off the field. Meanwhile, another family faced a similar tragedy when Chris Neill died onboard a flight to Bulgaria alongside his two young sons. His parents initiated a fundraiser to bring Chris’s body back to the UK, exceeding their target and setting up a trust fund for the grieving sons.
Despite Chris’s belief in having travel insurance through his bank, Halifax, it was discovered that the policy had lapsed, underscoring the importance of ensuring adequate coverage when traveling.
