A man who had been on the run for nearly a decade following the alleged murder of a young woman has been apprehended and charged. Alejandro Rosales Castillo, who has been on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list since 2017, was captured in Mexico on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the death of his former co-worker, Truc Quan ‘Sandy’ Ly Le.
Authorities stated that Castillo owed Le $1,000 and had arranged to meet her at a gas station to repay the debt. However, Le disappeared, and her vehicle was found abandoned at a bus station in Arizona. Instead of repaying her, it is alleged that Castillo forced Le to withdraw money from an ATM, then drove her to a wooded area where she was shot. Her body was later discovered in a ravine in the woods.
Castillo was seen on surveillance footage crossing the border into Mexico from Arizona just before the discovery of Le’s body. He was captured in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, on January 16. FBI Director Kash Patel hailed the arrest as a significant breakthrough, emphasizing the administration’s support for law enforcement in achieving successful outcomes.
FBI Charlotte Special Agent in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr. commended the efforts to capture Castillo, noting the perseverance of investigators over the years. North Carolina Representative Pat Harrigan also expressed gratitude for the arrest, acknowledging the collaborative work of law enforcement agencies.
In addition to Castillo’s arrest, two other suspects were charged in connection with Le’s murder in 2017. Ahmia Feaster, Castillo’s then-girlfriend, was charged with felony accessory after the fact and felony larceny of a motor vehicle for fleeing with Castillo in the victim’s car. Felipe Ulloa was also charged with accessory after the fact of murder in relation to Le’s death.
