Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly agreed to face off in an anticipated heavyweight clash, with significant details now unveiled.
After initial reports in December hinted at the resolution of their long-standing rivalry in 2026, Anthony Joshua’s involvement in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, resulting in the loss of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele, raised concerns about his future in the ring. However, the two-time former heavyweight champion has since resumed light training following his miraculous survival, sparking talks of a potential comeback this summer, possibly against Dillian Whyte before a showdown with Fury.
Renowned boxing journalist Gareth A Davies disclosed that both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the bout. Davies confirmed on talkSPORT that the fight has been signed behind the scenes, emphasizing its certainty. He also hinted that the match could be broadcast on Netflix, likely scheduled for either late this year or the following year, while Joshua could make his ring return in June or July.
Netflix is set to air Fury’s comeback on April 11, marking his return to the sport after briefly retiring last year. As Fury prepares to face Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Netflix’s growing presence in boxing has been highlighted through previous high-profile matchups. Meanwhile, Joshua is gearing up for a potential return to competitive training, with plans for a future clash with Fury still in the cards.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, expressed optimism about the heavyweight showdown, suggesting a potential late summer return for Joshua before a possible encounter with Fury later on. Hearn outlined a tentative plan for Joshua’s comeback in July, emphasizing caution due to the risks associated with his recent experiences. While the Fury fight remains a viable option, it is more likely to materialize towards the end of the year or early 2027.
