A man walking his dog was tragically killed in a violent knife attack after intervening to stop a confrontation. Wayne Broadhurst, a 49-year-old binman, lost his life at the scene, while two others, including a 14-year-old boy, were injured during the incident.
Following the attack in Uxbridge, West London, residents in the area rushed to aid the victims. One resident described how her husband and five others armed with baseball bats came to the rescue, particularly assisting a 45-year-old man whose injuries are reported to be severe.
One neighbor, Tahira Hassan, praised the quick action of the residents, highlighting their bravery in protecting the injured man. The victim, a married father of two, resides in the same neighborhood.
The suspect, 22-year-old Safi Dawood, an Afghan national who arrived in the UK in 2020, is currently in police custody. Dawood, who was granted asylum and permission to remain in the UK in 2022, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. Authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist act.

The managing director, Katarina Pohancenikova, extended condolences to Broadhurst’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
The survivor of the attack, a 45-year-old man, sustained life-altering injuries but was shielded from further harm by the group of residents who intervened. Safi Dawood is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court to face charges of murder and attempted murder.
Jaswant Narwal, chief crown prosecutor for CPS London North, confirmed the charges against Dawood and emphasized the collaborative effort between the Crown Prosecution Service and the Metropolitan Police Service in handling the case.
