“Hobbycraft Launches Clearance Sales at Closing Stores”

Date:

Hobbycraft initiates clearance sales at six stores set for closure this month as part of a business restructure. The arts and crafts retailer, previously closing 12 stores, has already shut down its Wigan branch on September 4.

Maidenhead and Chichester stores will permanently close on September 18, followed by Crayford on September 20, King’s Lynn on September 22, and Stafford on September 28. These stores are offering “everything must go” sales with discounts of up to 70% on select items.

Hobbycraft, owned by Modella Capital, states that these closures are vital to safeguard the future of 99 stores and 1,800 jobs. CEO Alex Wilson mentioned the company’s focus on enhancing its online presence and innovative customer engagement strategies like Hobbycraft TV.

Poundland recently secured approval for its restructuring plan, including the sale to investment firm Gordon Brothers. The deal involves closing 68 branches, aiming to reduce Poundland’s store count to between 650 and 700 in the future. Poundland will also shutter its distribution centers in South Yorkshire and the West Midlands by early 2026.
