Bin collectors were shocked to discover human skeletal remains inside a garbage bag during their regular trash pick-up. The workers initially loaded the wrapped remains onto a waste truck but soon detected a foul odor, sparking concerns that the bag might contain a deceased individual.
Police were alerted to the distressing finding at Queens Park near John F Kennedy International Airport in New York around 8 am on Monday. Subsequent investigations by emergency services indicated that the remains likely belonged to a female, as reported by local media outlets.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will conduct examinations to ascertain the cause of death and the identity of the deceased individual. This incident follows a recent case where a man, Christopher Caron, was charged after allegedly transporting a dead body to a hospital in Massachusetts and then fleeing the scene.
Caron, 42, is accused of driving a black Honda Civic to South Shore Hospital with the body of 27-year-old Declan Perry in the backseat. Upon arrival, he informed hospital staff of the body’s presence before making a hasty escape while an employee inspected the car, revealing the body wrapped in blankets and secured with duct tape.
Authorities identified the victim as Declan Perry, with the car belonging to him. The circumstances surrounding Perry’s death remain undisclosed, though officials have confirmed a prior connection between him and Caron.
Neighbors disclosed assisting Caron in loading a large blanket into his car before his arrest, prompting a search of his residence and the confiscation of several pieces of evidence. Brendan Perry, Declan’s father, expressed devastation over the news, remembering his son as a family-oriented individual with a wide circle of friends.
