An icy road caused a bus to slide and collide with a marble pillar near a park in Liverpool this morning. The incident, involving a blue Arriva bus, occurred at the junction of Aigburth Drive and Mossley Hill Drive, close to Sefton Park. Emergency services responded to the scene, with police blocking off a section of the road.
Merseyside Police reported that the bus hit the pillar at around 6:05 am while traveling towards Aigburth Road and Aigburth Vale, resulting in damage to its front right side. By 10 am, police were still present, coordinating with the council to remove the bus. Fortunately, there were no injuries as there were no passengers onboard during the accident.
Arriva Merseyside confirmed the involvement of one of their buses in the incident, stating it was out of service at the time and empty of passengers. They are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
