An influencer is said to be evading authorities following a court ruling sentencing her to three years in prison for causing the death of a personal trainer by striking him with her SUV. Startling video footage captured Rosa Iberê Tavares Dantas making a risky maneuver at an intersection before colliding with Talis Roque da Silva.
Talis, aged 31, was thrown off his motorcycle, hitting a metal pole and sustaining multiple fractures before landing on the ground. He was rushed to the hospital where medical staff managed to revive him initially, but he later succumbed to cardiac arrest.
Despite her claims online that she offered immediate assistance, Dantas, who was 25 at the time, did not appear to provide any help, as shown in the footage. The tragic incident took place in Manaus, Brazil, on August 31, 2023, as reported by NeedToKnow. Dantas was handed her sentence on May 4, receiving three years in jail for the charge of negligent homicide.
Judge Áldrin Henrique de Castro Rodrigues from the 10th Criminal Court of Manaus ordered that she serve her prison term under a semi-open regime, permitting her to work or study outside during the day but requiring her to return to a supervised facility every evening. Additionally, she was fined and banned from driving for one and a half years.
While her court case was ongoing, Dantas fled Brazil to Madrid, Spain, and is now considered a fugitive, with her name added to Brazil’s National Register of Arrest Warrants and Interpol being notified. Before the tragic incident, she frequently promoted her tobacco shop and swimwear business to her substantial social media following exceeding 50,000 individuals.
She also shared updates about her fitness routines, healthy eating habits, vacations, dining experiences, and social outings, along with showcasing her exotic pet boa constrictors. Reflecting on the event, she expressed, “What happened today was a great tragedy. Only God and my family know how my heart is.” The verdict remains subject to appeal.
