“IOC Responds to US VP Jeering at Winter Olympics”

Date:

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has responded to the jeering of US vice-president JD Vance during the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, emphasizing the importance of fair play and highlighting its positive relationship with the American administration.

Vance, who led the US delegation, faced a moment of discomfort as the cheers for the athletes turned into boos upon their entrance into the San Siro stadium in Italy.

In a press conference following the incident, IOC spokesperson Mark Adams expressed satisfaction with the engagement of the US administration in the Games, especially with the upcoming Games in Los Angeles. He emphasized the significance of the US team receiving cheers from the audience, praising the display of fair play.

Regarding the booing directed at Israeli athletes, the IOC urged all spectators to exhibit respectful behavior. Adams stressed the importance of supporting athletes regardless of their country of origin and emphasized the Olympic Movement’s principle of separating athletes from political actions.

Vance arrived in Milan ahead of the Games to meet American athletes and engage in various activities. He also had a successful meeting with IOC President Kirsty Coventry, as confirmed by Adams who noted the positive chemistry and enthusiasm displayed by the American administration towards the Games.
