Although Donald Trump agreed to a 10-point plan proposed by Iran, tensions persisted as missiles continued to be fired across the Middle East. Iran reiterated its intention to control and levy fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and to enrich uranium.
A senior White House official confirmed that Israel was included in the two-week ceasefire agreement. Israeli forces agreed to halt their bombing activities while negotiations proceeded.
Trump initially viewed Iran’s 10-point plan as a potential solution to the conflict with Israel but later dismissed it as fraudulent, emphasizing the importance of ending Iran’s nuclear program. The White House clarified that the ceasefire extended to Israeli military operations as well.
Following the ceasefire announcement, Trump expressed optimism for world peace on social media, highlighting Iran’s desire for peace. Pakistani leaders intervened and convinced Trump to postpone planned strikes for two weeks, contingent on Iran ensuring the safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The global leader hailed the ceasefire as a two-sided agreement and revealed that Washington had received a 10-point proposal from Tehran as a basis for negotiations. However, the deal did not cover conflicts involving Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
After the ceasefire, pro-government demonstrators in Iran chanted anti-American and anti-Israeli slogans, showcasing the ongoing tensions despite the temporary halt in hostilities.
