Iran has stated its readiness to launch invasions into two Gulf countries if the United States makes a misstep in the region. According to Iranian national security expert Morteza Simiyari, Iran’s armed forces are capable of executing coastal invasions of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, having conducted extensive drills for such operations.
Simiyari dismissed recent reports alleging the withdrawal of Iranian financial assets from the UAE, attributing them to pressure tactics and psychological warfare. He cautioned that if Iranian assets are indeed removed, Iran will target all financial centers and banks in the UAE due to their cooperation with the United States.
In response to a US proposal to halt the conflict in the Middle East, Iran rebuffed the offer and launched further attacks on Israel and Gulf nations. Iran’s retaliation coincided with Israeli airstrikes on Tehran and the US deployment of paratroopers and additional marines to the region.
Quoting an anonymous official, Iranian state television’s English-language broadcaster stated that Iran rejected America’s ceasefire proposal and has its own terms for ending the conflict. The proposal, transmitted by Pakistan, covers various aspects including sanctions relief, limitations on Iran’s nuclear program, missile restrictions, and reopening the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Casualties in the conflict include over 1,500 deaths in Iran from US-Israeli strikes, 20 fatalities in Israel, and 13 US military members killed, along with civilians in the occupied West Bank and Gulf states. In Lebanon, Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah have resulted in around 1,100 deaths and over one million displacements, while in Iraq, where Iranian-backed militants are involved, 80 security forces members have been killed according to security advisor Khalid al-Yaqoubi.
