Disturbing images and videos captured a dense cloud of smoke emanating from the residential complex in the early hours of Thursday, with a section of the structure illuminated by the flames.
Authorities have confirmed the safety of all residents following the recent assault, with no reported casualties. This incident follows a previous drone strike on Dubai International Airport, where four individuals, including citizens from Ghana, India, and Bangladesh, sustained injuries. Officials identified two drones near the airport premises during the attack.
In an official statement, Dubai authorities disclosed that two drones had fallen near Dubai International Airport, causing minor injuries to two Ghanaians, one Bangladeshi, and moderate injuries to an Indian national. The air traffic operations remained unaffected by the incident.
The Ministry of Defence in the UAE issued a statement indicating ongoing responses by the country’s air defenses against missile and drone threats from Iran. The public was urged to adhere to safety protocols and directives issued by the authorities.
Witnesses inside the airport during the attack were advised to move away from glass windows and seek shelter in secure areas, as precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, a British tourist faced legal consequences after allegedly recording a missile flying over the UAE during his vacation. The 60-year-old Londoner was detained for breaching the UAE’s stringent regulations prohibiting the filming or sharing of conflict-related content on social media. Legal advocacy group Detained in Dubai reported that the British national was among 21 individuals facing potential imprisonment for similar offenses.
Radha Stirling, director of Detained in Dubai, expressed that the British tourist had promptly deleted the video upon request and had no malicious intent, yet was still among those charged in the incident.
