Iran’s top military leadership has declared that its armed forces are committed to fighting until achieving “complete victory.” Major General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters made these remarks in response to reports about ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington to potentially end the conflict.
In a statement broadcasted on Iranian state television, Aliabadi emphasized the strength and determination of Iran’s armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s integrity, affirming their unwavering stance towards achieving complete victory. While the specifics of this victory were not elaborated on, it seemed evident that Iran’s military intended to caution against making concessions in any prospective talks with the United States.
Despite denials of engagement in negotiations, Iran’s Foreign Minister has been engaging with counterparts in the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated his commitment to targeting Iran and Lebanon, even as the US considers a ceasefire, signaling further actions to come.
Recent events saw Iran launching multiple missile attacks on Israel, resulting in impacts in the northern part of the country. In response, Israel targeted infrastructure used by the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Beirut, leading to casualties and significant damage. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has claimed over 1,000 lives in Lebanon and displaced more than 1 million people.
