A woman who was controlling and jealous subjected her girlfriend to a series of abusive behaviors, both psychological and physical, which tragically led to the girlfriend taking her own life shortly after reporting the abuse to the police.
Kathryn White and Claire Alex connected via the dating app Tinder in August 2021. However, their relationship turned tumultuous and ended in July 2022 after an altercation where White physically assaulted Ms. Alex. White’s actions included threatening self-harm, preventing Ms. Alex from seeking help, and physically harming her.
After enduring 11 months of torment, Claire finally reached out to the authorities, expressing that she felt shattered and had lost her sense of self due to White’s behavior. Tragically, just four days after this admission, Claire tragically took her own life.
Despite denying the allegations of controlling and coercive behavior, White, 41, was found guilty after a trial. The court heard disturbing accounts of White’s threats, including instances where she threatened violence towards Ms. Alex. Furthermore, she physically assaulted Ms. Alex in public, demonstrating a pattern of abuse.
