Reflecting on his victory, Kerr, aged 28, shared that his early training in the very stadium played a vital role in shaping his understanding of both victory and defeat. Notably, Victoria in Australia’s withdrawal from hosting the event and their financial contribution facilitated the funding for Glasgow 2026 without taxpayer burden.
Phil Batty, the chief executive of Glasgow 2026, emphasized that this shift in approach signifies a long-term vision for the sustainability of the Commonwealth Games beyond 2030, ensuring its relevance and success in the years to come.
