A seasoned litigation attorney, Karen Conti, shared a bone-chilling encounter with John Wayne Gacy, the notorious US serial killer she represented on death row. Gacy, known as the “Killer Clown,” was convicted in 1980 for the murders of 33 young men in the Chicago area between 1972 and 1978, solidifying his position as America’s most prolific serial killer at the time.
Having grown up in the same region as Gacy, Karen recalled how he was perceived as the “boogeyman,” a notion she found incomprehensible at the time. Despite this, fate led her to not only meet but also legally advocate for the infamous killer during his final appeals before execution.
After reaching out to Karen under the impression that she was a First Amendment Lawyer, Gacy, who had been embroiled in a legal battle over his artwork, persuaded her to join his legal team. Despite Gacy’s heinous crimes of torturing, raping, and murdering his victims, he spent 14 years on death row before facing lethal injection in 1994.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Karen, author of the book “Killing Time with John Wayne Gacy,” recounted a spine-chilling moment when Gacy showed her a disturbing “Body Book” that he meticulously compiled with color-coded tabs containing images and information about his victims. This macabre collection allowed Gacy to relive his horrific acts, showcasing a deeply unsettling aspect of his personality.
Karen revealed how Gacy rationalized his victims as unworthy individuals, showcasing a blatant dehumanization of the lives he had taken. This revelation provided a disturbing insight into the twisted mindset of a serial killer, shedding light on the dark and remorseless nature of John Wayne Gacy’s psyche.
