Lloyds Banking Group has revealed intentions to shut down an additional 79 branches in the upcoming year. This round of closures will affect 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax sites, in addition to the 95 branch closures previously announced earlier this year.
Following the completion of these latest closures, Lloyds Banking Group will operate with 531 branches across the country. The north-west and south-east of England are expected to be heavily impacted, with 12 branches in each region set for closure. Additionally, 10 branches in London are also scheduled to cease operations.
The banking group stated that more than three-quarters of the branches slated for closure are located within a mile of another Lloyds Banking Group branch, with 95% having an alternative branch within a five-mile radius.
A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group emphasized the ample options available to customers despite the closures, including access to a vast branch network, local banking services like Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, as well as their apps and 24/7 messaging service for enhanced convenience and choice.
