“Major Accident Shuts Down M3 Motorway, Drivers Face Delays”

Date:

A significant accident this morning led to the closure of a major motorway for several hours, causing drivers to reroute due to a long line of vehicles. The eastbound section of the M3 between junctions 4 in Farnborough and 3 in Bracknell was shut down, with Surrey Police and paramedics swiftly responding to the scene. Commuters were advised to anticipate substantial delays extending into the afternoon.

Authorities indicated that an investigation was in progress, with a driver cooperating with police inquiries. No arrests had been made at that point. Subsequently, the eastbound lanes of the M3 were reopened between junctions 4 and 3, although congestion persisted in the area, albeit gradually improving, according to National Highways.

A Google traffic map suggested that the M3 closure might extend until 4:30 pm. National Highways reiterated that the eastbound segment between junctions 4 and 3 would remain inaccessible as the police probed the site of the “serious” crash.

Surrey Police began probing a “serious collision” on the M3 in Surrey earlier today, with a spokesperson confirming their presence at the scene. The road closure between junctions 4 and 3 was anticipated to persist until later in the day, necessitating drivers to seek alternative routes as authorities provided forthcoming updates.

Live traffic camera images revealed extensive congestion on the M3 in Surrey, resulting from an earlier police incident. Traffic officers were actively managing the situation at junction 4 of the M3 eastbound between Farnborough and Bracknell, with vehicles being turned around at the rear of the queue under National Highways’ direction.

Additionally, the closure of a substantial M3 stretch in Bracknell was expected to endure beyond noon, as indicated by Google traffic alerts. Emergency responders, including Surrey Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, were present on-site, while National Highways Traffic Officers were assisting in traffic control efforts.

Motorists were urged to adhere to the Solid Diamond diversion symbol on road signs, with the road closure predicted to persist throughout the morning due to the severity of the incident. Drivers caught within the closure area would soon be directed to turn around from the rear of the queue.
