Drivers are encountering disruptions on a major motorway in the UK as traffic comes to a halt following a collision.
Emergency responders have been dispatched to a crash on the M6 in north Staffordshire involving a truck and a car. Live traffic cameras have captured an HGV off the road after the incident on the southbound carriageway near Junction 15.
Footage from motorway cameras reveals vehicles shifting to the outer lane to bypass the accident scene. A witness described the recent crash involving a car and a lorry on the M6 southbound, noting heavy traffic buildup and oil spillage on the lanes.
According to National Highways: West Midlands, two out of four lanes are closed on the M6 southbound between Junction 15 in Stoke-On-Trent and Junction 14 in Stafford. Recovery efforts might be prolonged due to the position of the lorry, leading to delays of up to 90 minutes.
An onlooker recounted witnessing significant congestion after the car and lorry collision, highlighting the vehicles’ positions and the presence of debris on the lanes.
At the collision site, three fire engines, along with police and paramedics, are currently present. Two lanes have been closed near the accident scene, causing severe delays as reported by Inrix.
Inrix has indicated a complete traffic stoppage due to the crash, which halted traffic at 10:25 am. The impact of the collision has resulted in queues on the A500 between Hanford and the M6 approach.
