“Man Arrested in Leicester Park Homicide Case”

A man has been apprehended on suspicion of homicide following the discovery of an unconscious individual in a park situated behind a Tesco store. The incident unfolded at Beaumont Leys Park in Leicester on the evening of April 6, prompting the launch of a murder investigation. The 62-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Responding to the scene just before 7pm, the East Midlands Ambulance Service summoned authorities, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old male, who is currently held in police custody. As investigations continue, police cordons remain intact to facilitate a thorough examination of the crime site.

Detective Inspector Kevin Hames of the East Midlands Murder Investigation Team stated, “We are at the initial stages of probing the incident and its preceding circumstances. The victim’s family has been identified and is receiving support from specialized officers during this challenging period.”

Hames further urged individuals present in the vicinity during the incident to come forward with any pertinent information. Encouraging cooperation from potential witnesses, he emphasized the criticality of sharing observations to aid the investigation.

A police spokesperson earlier highlighted the cordoned-off area between Krefeld Way and Beaumont Way, designated for a meticulous scene examination and identification of potential witnesses.
