A man has refuted allegations of killing a young girl over 30 years after her body was discarded in a canal. West Yorkshire Police provided an update on the Lindsay Rimer case from 1994. The Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team disclosed the arrest of a man at an undisclosed prison in the UK.
Lindsay, aged 13, disappeared after she went to a local shop in Hebdon Bridge, West Yorkshire, to purchase cornflakes in November 1994. Prior to that, she had stopped by the Trades Club on Holme Street to collect money from her mother before heading to the Spar convenience store on Crown Street.
Surveillance footage captured Lindsay inside the store buying cereal and exiting at 10.23 pm. The authorities were notified the next day when she didn’t show up for her paper route. Sadly, her body was discovered five months later in a canal approximately a mile from her residence.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, the Senior Investigating Officer, issued a statement regarding the latest developments. The arrested individual was already serving a sentence at the prison for unrelated crimes. The statement emphasized the commitment to seeking justice for Lindsay and providing closure to her family.
