Authorities have detained a man following the discovery of two deceased teenagers at a vacation spot.
Law enforcement confirmed that the bodies of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were located within a rental lodge at the Little Eden Holiday Park in Bridlington. The arrest was made on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
Chief Supt Matt Peach, the Divisional Commander at Humberside Police, stated: “Upon immediate arrival at the holiday park, emergency services sadly discovered the lifeless bodies of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy inside the residence.
“The situation is deeply distressing for the families of the teenagers involved, and our primary focus is on supporting them. Trained officers have been assisting the families, and we urge the public to refrain from speculation and respect their privacy.”
He further mentioned: “A restricted area remains in place to facilitate ongoing investigations, and collaborative efforts with Humberside Fire & Rescue, the Health and Safety Executive, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council are underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
“A specialized team is conducting thorough inquiries, some of which are intricate and require additional time to conclude.”
As part of the ongoing investigation, a 33-year-old male was apprehended today on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and is currently in custody.
Chief Supt Matt Peach added: “Although the circumstances surrounding the deaths are currently unexplained and in the early stages of investigation, there is a consideration of potential carbon monoxide poisoning, with inquiries continuing in collaboration with partner agencies.
“Emergency services and partner agencies have visited all other properties on the site to provide guidance, assistance, and ensure the safety of all individuals.
“We understand the impact this incident will have on the local community, and we assure that we will strive to ascertain the details of the situation.
“Residents in the vicinity should expect heightened police presence, and we will release further updates when possible.”
