“Man Fatally Shot by Police After Bow Threat”

A man was fatally shot by police after he pointed a bow and arrow at them. The incident took place during a welfare check at a residence on Quia Road in Gunnedah, located approximately 450km northwest of Sydney. Upon police arrival, the man engaged with officers, then reappeared holding a bow and arrow, which he directed at the police.

Police officers had to seek shelter in their vehicle as the man continued to threaten them with the weapon. Eventually, law enforcement discharged a firearm, resulting in the man’s death despite efforts to save him. The New South Wales Police confirmed the tragic event and initiated a critical incident investigation into the shooting.

According to a spokesperson from the NSW police, the man’s death occurred following the confrontation at the residence. The critical incident team from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad will lead the inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation will undergo review by the Professional Standards Command and will be overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
