Man in Custody for Threats Against Nigel Farage

Date:

A man was taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police for allegedly making threats against Nigel Farage, as confirmed by the police. The individual was apprehended recently on suspicion of sending threatening messages and was later released on bail while the investigation remains ongoing.

The arrest stemmed from a reported threat to the leader of Reform UK, which was brought to the attention of the police by parliamentary authorities. The Metropolitan Police stated that the arrest was made following an incident where a man in his twenties was taken into custody for allegedly sending threatening communications to a Member of Parliament.

According to the police statement given to the Mirror, the arrest was related to a social media post earlier this year, reported to the authorities in May. Following the report, detectives sought access to the user’s contact details from a social media platform. Subsequently, the man was arrested with the support of local officers at a residence in south London. After being held in police custody overnight, he was released on bail pending further inquiries.

The arrest comes in the wake of the tragic murder of Ann Widdecombe, described by Devon and Cornwall Police as a targeted attack. A 28-year-old male suspect was arrested in Rotherham, Yorkshire, under the Terrorism Act on suspicion of murder.

A report from The Telegraph reveals that an individual threatened to shoot Nigel Farage, saying, “I am going to shoot you in the head if you win.” In response to the concerning threats, Zia Yusuf, the Reform Home Affairs spokesman, announced plans to provide around-the-clock security to all MPs, past and present, if the party secures victory in the upcoming general election.

The body of Miss Widdecombe, aged 78, was found at her Devon residence after sustaining serious injuries in an attack. A 28-year-old white British man was initially arrested and subsequently re-arrested on suspicion of involvement in acts of terrorism.
