Man Killed by Falling Tree in Storm Goretti

During Storm Goretti, a man tragically lost his life when a tree fell on his caravan due to strong winds. The man, identified as James Southey, was described by his sister as a kind and generous individual known for his willingness to help others. The incident occurred at a farm in Mawgan, close to Helston, according to reports from Cornwall Live.

His sister, Sam, expressed her shock and sorrow on Facebook, emphasizing James’s compassionate nature and the impact of his sudden passing on their family. Numerous friends and community members shared their condolences and memories of James, highlighting his loving personality and the positive influence he had on those around him.

The tragic event was first announced by Andrew George, MP for St Ives, who conveyed the grief felt by the local community following James’s untimely death. The Cornwall coroner’s office confirmed receiving a report on the incident and will proceed with an inquest to investigate the circumstances further.

Authorities from Devon and Cornwall Police clarified that the man’s death was not considered suspicious, and efforts were made to ensure the safety of the site after the incident. The community continues to mourn the loss of James Southey, a beloved figure who will be dearly missed.
