A 75-year-old man, previously known as George Quigley but now legally named Santa Claus, was apprehended by law enforcement in a sting operation targeting individuals seeking to exploit children, according to police reports. The man, hailing from New Orleans, was captured by Kenner Police dressed in a red outfit with a long grey beard.
Authorities stated that Claus was arrested after arranging a face-to-face meeting with an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old boy but was actually an undercover detective. He is now facing charges related to solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Kenner Police disclosed that Claus had discussed inappropriate activities with the supposed child and had made plans to meet in Kenner. Upon his arrival at the agreed location, detectives took him into custody. He was one of 11 individuals apprehended in various operations conducted by Kenner Police over the weekend.
In a statement on social media, Kenner Police mentioned that among the arrested individuals was a 75-year-old man who legally changed his name to Santa Claus from New Orleans. The police emphasized the dangers posed by individuals exploiting children online and highlighted the need for vigilance among parents and guardians.
Chief Keith Conley remarked that such offenders pose a significant threat to children and society, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children from online predators. He warned that law enforcement is actively monitoring and apprehending individuals who seek to exploit children through online platforms before they can harm any child.
