A man rescued from a burning boat is accused of pushing his heroic captain overboard before taking off with the vessel. The incident occurred near Marco Island in Collier County, Florida, where a captain saved Ryan Dieter, 40, from a burning boat and brought him onto his tow boat.
Allegedly, Dieter then pushed the rescuer off the tow boat and escaped on it, leaving the captain stranded. He later abandoned the boat on the banks and fled on foot. Dieter was eventually found naked in nearby mangroves, while the captain was located unharmed, as reported by Gulf Coast News.
Following the incident, Dieter was arrested on March 7 and charged with offenses including grand theft, resisting arrest, operating a vessel while impaired, and assault or battery-related burglary. His court appearance is scheduled for March 30, according to arrest records.
