A woman suffered severe burns when a violent individual poured a scalding mixture of sugar and water onto her abdomen, following a prior incident where he menaced her with fire. Identified as Khaled Aziz, he arrived at the victim’s residence wearing a mask resembling Guy Fawkes and engaged in a frightening verbal attack. Subsequently, he returned with a fuel-like liquid, drenched the woman, and threatened to ignite her as he sought a lighter.
The next day, Aziz visited the woman again, boiling a concoction of sugar water and aggressively poured it on her stomach, causing first-degree burns. Despite receiving medical care for her injuries, the victim continued to endure further abuse. Aziz reappeared at her home, entered while she slept, and used hair straighteners to burn her back, accompanied by death threats.
In her court statement, the woman expressed enduring physical, emotional, and practical repercussions from the traumatic events. She highlighted the impact on her daily tasks and overall sense of vulnerability, emphasizing the fear and imminent danger she felt during the assaults. The court proceedings revealed Aziz’s repeated menacing behavior, including breaking into the victim’s home and inflicting harm.
Aziz, with a history of criminal offenses, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for causing bodily harm. Additionally, a 12-year restraining order was imposed to prevent contact with the victim. The court acknowledged Aziz’s troubled background and drug involvement but noted his cooperation while incarcerated. The sentencing aimed to address the severity of the crimes committed and safeguard the victim from further harm.
