“Massachusetts Lifts Ban on Haggis, Cheers to Scottish Victory”

Date:

Scots have achieved a significant victory in the United States as Massachusetts announced plans to legalize haggis, marking a milestone since the Revolutionary War. Following Scotland’s 1-0 win over Haiti, fans were surprised to learn that haggis has been banned in the US since the 1970s due to its use of sheep lung, classified as offal subject to strict regulations.

After the enthusiastic presence of the Tartan Army in Boston, Governor Maura Healey of Massachusetts made a symbolic move to legalize haggis, recognizing the impact of the Scottish fans on the state. Despite the federal jurisdiction over food import regulations, Governor Healey signed an executive order to permit the sale of haggis once again, praising the Tartan Army for their energy and enthusiasm.

The campaign to lift the ban on haggis was spearheaded by Simon Howie Butcher, who rallied for support to make haggis legal in the US. Encouraging fans to sign a petition, the butcher highlighted the irony of being able to send haggis to space but not being able to enjoy it during the game. Over 20,000 Scottish supporters flocked to Boston for the match, causing a surge in demand for beer and leading to extended opening hours for many bars under the “Tartan Army Bill.”

As the city embraced the influx of visitors, numerous establishments faced beer shortages, showcasing the overwhelming presence of the Scottish fans in Boston. This historic moment resonated with both locals and visitors alike, underscoring the cultural exchange and camaraderie fostered by the Tartan Army during their stay in Massachusetts.
