A man aged 45 from Massachusetts was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly making threats on Facebook to kill President Donald Trump. Andrew Emerald, who was charged in an eight-count indictment related to various posts from the previous year, reportedly used a sword in a threatening manner against law enforcement officers. According to the indictment filed in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts, Emerald vowed in his posts to travel to the President’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida if Trump did not die by 2026.
In one of his social media posts from May 2025, Emerald wrote, “Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there,” as per the indictment. The accused pleaded not guilty in court and was held without bail, with a detention hearing scheduled for Monday. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) located Emerald based on a tip from a citizen, as reported by The Mirror US.
The indictment indicates that between May 2025 and July 2025, Emerald made eight separate threatening Facebook posts directed at injuring President Trump. When the FBI visited his residence in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Emerald initially refused to come out but later emerged wielding a long metallic sword, as stated in the affidavit. One of the FBI agents reported that Emerald referenced his sword in Facebook posts threatening the President, including an instance in July 2025 where he allegedly mentioned thrusting it through Trump’s throat.
According to court documents, one post by Emerald allegedly read, “when I stick the sword through Trump’s throat, I’ll have every pulse by creation and ethically, actually legally right!!!” The charge of interstate transmission of threatening communications carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000, as per the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
It is important to note that the allegations mentioned in the charging document do not establish guilt, and the defendant is considered innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
