A massive fire erupted at an industrial site close to Dublin Airport, prompting a swift response from several fire crews. Dublin Fire Brigade has cautioned residents in the Wimbletown area of Balyboughal to shut all windows and doors due to the extensive smoke plume visible for miles around.
In their statement, Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed their awareness of the industrial fire in Wimbletown, Balyboughal, with five fire engines, including a water tanker, en route to the location. They expressed gratitude for the 999 calls and reassured that firefighters were already at the scene addressing the fire.
Additionally, reports indicate another fire in Ashtown to the North West of the city. LiveDrive in Dublin alerted the public to emergency services responding to a fire near Navan Road in Ashtown, urging caution as smoke was observable in the area.
Despite the Ballyboughal fire being approximately 10km (around 6 miles) away, operations at Dublin Airport remain unaffected. AirNav Ireland, responsible for air traffic control, advised pilots to be mindful of the smoke plume during approach, emphasizing that airport operations remained undisrupted.
Numerous individuals have shared images showing a large smoke column emanating from the blaze near Dublin Airport. Dublin Fire Brigade has issued a critical advisory for residents near the fire to secure their homes by closing all doors and windows as a precaution against the smoke.
