Despite the challenges of aging, injuries, and health issues over the years, the group has dwindled to just six members, with a combined age of 465. The Ever Presents include individuals like Mac Speake, an 84-year-old retired GP, and Chris Finill, the youngest at 67, who have witnessed the marathon evolve from a small event to a massive spectacle.
While the group lacks female representation, the marathon’s participant demographics have significantly shifted over the years, reflecting the sport’s progress. Each member has their own unique story of resilience and perseverance, such as David Walker overcoming a suspected fractured rib to participate virtually this year.
