The Middle East is currently experiencing a series of explosions as Israel and the US have initiated synchronized attacks on Iran, to which Iran has responded in kind. Reports indicate that modern cities such as Doha in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai in the UAE, as well as Bahrain, are now under attack as the situation escalates. US President Donald Trump has declared the commencement of ‘major combat operations’ in Iran.
In a recent announcement on his social media platform Truth Social through an eight-minute video, President Trump stated, “The United States military has initiated major combat operations in Iran to eliminate imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime, which consists of a dangerous group of individuals. These threatening activities directly endanger the US, our troops, our overseas bases, and our global allies.”
President Trump emphasized that the Iranian regime has a long history of hostility towards the US, citing incidents such as the takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran and the marine barracks bombing in Beirut. He reiterated the US policy, under his administration, to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons at all costs.
Following the announcement, the British Foreign Office has cautioned British citizens abroad to remain indoors and advised against traveling to the region. As per the latest updates, there have been no reported American casualties from Iran’s retaliatory strikes on US military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar.
There is confirmed damage to infrastructure in Bahrain after Iran targeted the Fifth Fleet, although the extent of damage to the base itself remains uncertain. Officials have indicated that the situation is dynamic, with ongoing assessments of casualties and damage. Both US and Israeli strikes are anticipated to continue, while Iran is expected to persist with its retaliatory actions.
