The fabricated post not only distressed Kerry but also raised concerns among Ben’s family, particularly his sister Leighanna Needham. She emphasized that spreading false information about Ben’s discovery could hinder the ongoing investigation and cause unnecessary confusion and distress. Kerry, residing in Turkey, expressed her apprehensions that such misleading posts might affect the search for her son, who vanished at 21 months old from Kos, Greece, in 1991. She believes Ben might have been abducted and sold into illegal adoption in the US.
