The Montreal Roses made the decision to relieve their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu, from his duties following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, announced this development in a press release on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
Acknowledging the challenging nature of parting ways with a coach, the statement emphasized the respect held for Rositoiu both personally and professionally. The club highlighted the necessity for a new direction to navigate the remainder of the season and advance the club’s growth.
Currently positioned in second place in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season. Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto while the club conducts the search for a permanent successor to Rositoiu.
