A 23-year-old mother, Andrea Shaw, has been formally accused of the murder of her 18-month-old twins over a year after their lifeless bodies were discovered in Payette, Idaho. The tragic incident led to Shaw being charged with two counts of first-degree murder on June 29.
The twin boy and girl were found deceased in a shared bed on May 1, 2025, prompting a thorough investigation by the Payette Police. Shortly after the twins’ passing, Shaw made an appearance on a podcast by the anti-vaccine group Children’s Health Defense, where she insinuated that the vaccines the twins had received might have caused their illness.
During the podcast, Shaw expressed regret for being pro-vaccine in the past, stating that she now wishes she had been against vaccinations. Shaw, who recently gave birth to another child on June 25, was taken into custody without incident in Boise, Idaho, but it remains unclear whether she has entered a plea.
Her lawyer, Joe Filicetti, shared Shaw’s belief that the twins’ deaths were linked to vaccines, as she had mentioned on the podcast. Filicetti stated that medical experts he consulted also leaned towards this theory, although he acknowledged not being a medical professional himself.
Following the twins’ deaths, authorities treated the case as a homicide investigation, citing the unusual circumstances of the infants’ simultaneous passing. They expressed hope that autopsies would shed light on the unanswered questions surrounding the tragic event.
A recent statement by the Payette Police on June 30 emphasized the extensive investigation that led to Shaw’s arrest. The police refrained from disclosing further details about the case, stating that any additional information would be presented through the legal proceedings.
Shaw is currently held at the Ada County Jail awaiting extradition to Payette County, where she will face charges for two counts of First Degree Murder.
