A mother who tragically lost her son in a destructive house explosion is raising awareness about the warning signs of residing near a cannabis factory. Katherine Errington, the grieving mother, is bravely sharing her story following the life-altering events that took place on October 16, 2024, at their residence in Benwell, Newcastle. Unbeknownst to Katherine and her partner Robbie York, their downstairs neighbor Reece Galbraith operated a cannabis ‘shatter’ factory with accomplice Jason Laws, leading to a fatal blast that claimed the life of their seven-year-old son, Archie, and Laws.
Katherine, a devoted mother of two, was rescued from the rubble by Robbie and a neighbor. Despite the heartbreaking loss of Archie, Katherine and Robbie are now advocates for educating others about the risks associated with drug factories and the signs of illicit drug production in residential areas. Reflecting on the tragic incident, Katherine emphasized the importance of recognizing unusual activities such as frequent deliveries or unfamiliar visitors, which could indicate illegal operations nearby.
