A mother has spent £5,000 to convert her home into a ‘Barbie Dreamhouse,’ featuring a pink slide, drawing mixed reactions from neighbors. Nicole Watt, 27, adorned her house in Carluke, Scotland, with Barbie-themed decorations like a mannequin, palm tree, dressing table, and surfboard over six months. The Barbie wonderland includes a pink disco ball, flamingos, and beach toys, inspired by Nicole’s daughters, who are avid Barbie fans.
Using wood, pink paint, and recycled materials, Nicole estimates she invested around £5,000 in the project. The house has become a local attraction, attracting numerous visitors for photos, receiving both praise and criticism from the community. Some locals find the transformation excessive and costly, while others appreciate the effort put into creating the Barbie-themed ambiance.
Nicole shared that the Barbie Dreamhouse was built for her daughters’ enjoyment, especially her twins who share a love for Barbie dolls. The house, which was part of the Carluke and District Gala Day, was constructed in three stages with the help of family members. Adorned with a jewelry board, disco ball, flamingos, and beach balls, the Barbie house is set to be dismantled soon.
Despite the mixed opinions, the Barbie Dreamhouse gained popularity on TikTok, attracting visitors from various locations who find the colorful display captivating. While some locals commend the family’s creativity and dedication to creating a unique experience, others suggest keeping the Barbie Dreamhouse standing longer to preserve the memories and joy it brings to the community.
