A distressed mother has made a firm decision not to send her two-year-old daughter back to her daycare center after a serious incident that resulted in the toddler sustaining a concussion and fractures to her forehead and eye socket.
Kimberley received a call from Little Explorers PZ LTD in Penzance, Cornwall, informing her that her daughter had a minor “bump” and “graze” from a fall at the park. Upon arriving at the nursery, Kimberley discovered that her daughter, Amethyst, had actually fallen two meters off a bandstand onto a concrete wall.
Expressing her shock, Kimberley mentioned she initially thought it was a minor injury but was alarmed to find her daughter with significant swelling, a split lip, and a black eye. She rushed Amethyst to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
The incident, captured on CCTV, showed the two-meter fall at Morrab Gardens in Penzance. Despite the severity of the fall, the child was allowed to sleep upon returning to the nursery in a pram.
Following police advice not to view the distressing footage, Kimberley is deeply concerned about the daycare provider’s handling of the situation and the lack of immediate medical care for her daughter.
In response to the incident, Ofsted has suspended Little Explorers PZ LTD’s childcare provision due to potential harm to children. The government agency stated that the suspension is temporary until investigations are completed to ensure the safety of children.
Amethyst’s hospital discharge summary detailed her injuries, including a skull fracture and other physical trauma. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed they conducted a safeguarding enquiry regarding the childcare provider.
Little Explorers PZ LTD has not yet responded to requests for comment on the incident.
