“Murder Charge in Plymouth Man’s Drowning Death”

Date:

The reason behind the death of a beloved 24-year-old man has been revealed as an investigation into his passing begins.

Drew Perham, a resident of Plymouth, went missing after a night out and was last spotted leaving The Depo establishment.

Following a search by Devon and Cornwall Police, Drew’s body was tragically found in the water at Millbay Marina on January 25.

During a preliminary inquiry, Devon coroner Deborah Archer announced that the official cause of death was determined to be drowning due to immersion in water.

After the discovery of Drew’s body, detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team at Devon and Cornwall Police launched a probe into the incident.

Subsequently, 19-year-old Layton Randle from Oakfield Terrace Road in Plymouth was charged with murder in connection to the case.

Two other 19-year-old individuals, one from Plymouth and one from Exmouth, were initially arrested on suspicion of murder but were later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Randle made an appearance at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on January 28, where he was remanded in custody after confirming his identity.

He later appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on January 29, where he was again remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 6 for a pre-trial preparation hearing, during which a plea may be entered.

During the proceedings, Judge Robert Linford cautioned against engaging in social media speculation about the case, emphasizing the potential impact on a fair trial.
