“Mysterious Billionaire Christopher Harborne’s Controversial Donations”

Date:

In a Bangkok high-rise tower, a small paper sign bears the name of a wealthy and enigmatic figure. Christopher Harborne, Nigel Farage’s cryptocurrency supporter, is associated with AML Global Ltd at this address, but he and his team are seldom present. The inconspicuous sign is the only indication of his presence amidst other company listings on the wall, hinting at his elusive nature.

The 63-year-old businessman recently made headlines for gifting £5 million to Reform UK’s leader without proper disclosure. Records show that the tower address is linked to Mr. Harborne in official documents and UK Companies House listings. Situated in a prestigious area with the US embassy nearby, the tower offers various office options for clients, with prices starting as low as £3.42 per day per person for individual offices.

Despite the modest appearance of the tower, where virtual office plans are available from £1.83 daily, Mr. Harborne’s wealth is estimated at a staggering £18.2 billion according to the Sunday Times Rich List. AML Global, a jet fuel business associated with him, reportedly has a space in the tower, although it was not shown during the visit. Additionally, another address linked to Mr. Harborne in Thai business filings is located in a different part of Bangkok, where a property visit revealed a gated community setting.

Further investigations led to a rundown apartment block in Bangkok, serving as the registered address for three of Mr. Harborne’s companies. Despite its unassuming appearance, the property is associated with Chakrit Holdings, Bahati Properties Company Ltd, and Praewpayome Company Ltd. A resident at the apartment confirmed working for Mr. Harborne, shedding light on his diverse business interests.

Recently ranked sixth in the Rich List, Mr. Harborne gained attention for his substantial donations to the Reform Party. Holding significant assets, including a £357 million stake in QinetiQ and a 12% holding in Tether, a cryptocurrency firm valued at $200 billion by Forbes, his total stake is estimated at £17.778 billion. Amidst scrutiny over the undisclosed gift, Mr. Farage faces investigation by Parliamentary standards authorities, while Reform UK maintains it was a personal gift with no rule violations. Requests for comments from Mr. Harborne remain unanswered.
