An NHS physician found himself stranded following an explosion while en route to the airport. Muhammad Irfan, a 31-year-old doctor from Colchester, Essex, was returning to the UK when he got stuck due to missiles launched at Dubai by Iran. He was on a layover in the United Arab Emirates city on February 28, coinciding with the start of the attacks.
The escalating conflict in the Gulf, including Dubai, took Muhammad by surprise. Learning about the US and Israel’s attacks on Iran from his brother in Pakistan was shocking, as he had not anticipated such a situation before departing for Dubai.
Upon hearing a loud explosion at Dubai airport, Muhammad discovered that the airport had been hit. His flight to London Stansted Airport was first delayed and then canceled at around 2:30 pm, leaving him stranded in Dubai. He is currently staying in a hotel, away from his wife and child who reside in Ireland.
Authorities evacuated Muhammad and others to a temporary hotel accommodation, an experience he described as unbelievable. He had always believed that the region would be immune to such conflicts.
