‘Nightmare Neighbor’ Evicted: Scottish Couple’s Relief

Date:

A resident described as a ‘nightmare neighbour’ has been removed from their property following a prolonged period of abusive behavior, as disclosed by a Scottish couple, Chris and Amy Masterson. The couple expressed relief that the problematic individual, who had made threats including a potential petrol bombing of their residence, has been evicted by the local council.

The Mastersons meticulously documented the ongoing harassment by their neighbor over nearly two years through their doorbell camera, which began when the individual moved into their street in Forth in 2024. The couple, parents of two children, endured verbal abuse and threats from Peter Ferguson, directed not only at them but also at any guests they had.

Despite contacting the authorities, Ferguson received an antisocial behavior order but repeatedly violated its conditions seven times. Incidents captured on camera included Ferguson hurling abusive language at Amy and the couple resorting to securing their doors after a threat to set their car on fire, as reported by the Daily Record.

Following what the Mastersons described as a persistently “toxic” situation, South Lanarkshire Council confirmed the eviction of Ferguson. Chris, aged 46, expressed relief, stating that the abusive behavior had made it impossible for them to feel safe outside their home, causing significant stress for the family.

The couple, who had enjoyed a positive living environment in Forth since 2016, saw their peace disrupted when Ferguson arrived in 2024. Chris, dealing with mobility issues after a stroke, voiced concerns for the safety of Amy and their children due to Ferguson’s escalating aggression.

Recalling the escalating situation, Chris recounted how Ferguson’s unwarranted verbal attacks on his wife extended to visitors and continued to worsen over time. Despite legal intervention, including an ASBO and numerous court appearances, Ferguson persisted in his threatening behavior, causing damage to their property and instilling fear in the household.

The prolonged legal battles took a toll on the family’s mental well-being, with the Mastersons expressing immense relief at the resolution of the situation. South Lanarkshire Council confirmed the eviction following court proceedings and highlighted the continuation of an anti-social behavior order against the former tenant.
